A lot of people love green beans. But like so many other vegetables, the traditional version of these greens sometimes get a bad reputation with kids (and some adults). One of the biggest culprits is serving green beans that are too soft. Luckily, we have the solution. These lightly fried green beans are so addicting, especially when you dip them in our tasty lemon dill dip. You will have no problem getting your kids to eat their veggies when you serve these with dinner. These green beans are lightly battered and fried in a shallow pan of hot oil, which cooks the beans but still leaves them with a nice crunch. No one wants soggy droopy green beans.

Fried Green Beans Ingredients

With only five ingredients, these green beans come to life with flavor and a crisp, golden-brown outer layer. Simple to prepare and make. This makes the perfect side dish!

Green beans – The main ingredient! Find fresh green beans that are firm and long in size. Garden fresh beans are best that are thicker with smaller seeds inside them. Eggs – This will hold the flour onto the green beans like glue. Milk – Gives the batter a creamy and flavorful texture. Flour – A crusty outside from the flour creates the best crispy and flavorful outside. Parmesan cheese – This gives the fried outside all the flavor with a hint of cheesy goodness.

How To Make Fried Green Beans with Lemon Dill Dip

Coating the green beans is key to getting the ultimate crispy and tempura outside when frying it. We tried a special trick using a ziplock bag to coat the entire green bean from top to bottom and all around. You can even do it in batches and use a bowl and tongs to try and get the vegetable coated.

Homemade Lemon Dill Dip

This is a simple sauce that is full of all the flavor! Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl until it is well mixed together. Once combined, place in the fridge to chill until ready to serve.

Mayonnaise – A creamy base that holds all the flavor. Plain greek yogurt – This yogurt is thick and creamy but doesn’t have as much flavor compared to the mayo. Lemon juice – Just enough to balance out all the flavors and give it that fresh zest taste! Fresh dill – Chop the dill and stir together. This gives the off-white creamy dip sprinkles of fresh dill throughout the dip.

Tips and Modifications for the Best Green Beans

You will love how crispy and crunchy these green beans turn out. They are simple to make but can be modified and cooked in different ways. This makes for the best green bean appetizer!

Cooking methods – You can easily bake these in the oven or air fry them. Simply bake in the oven at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until crispy on the outside. Using the air fryer basket, place the green beans in a single layer to fry. Air-fried green beans are very similar to frying them. Spice – Add some spice to the ziplock bag. Use cayenne or red pepper flakes to add to the mixture. Flavors – Add in more seasonings for special flavors over top of your green beans. Garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, or simply add salt and black pepper. Bread crumbs – This is a smaller textured coating that can be purchased with a few variations of different flavors.

Make it a Meal

These fried green Beans are great as a side dish to just about any meal. I especially like them with grilled meat, like our New York Steaks or Grilled Balsamic Chicken. I often serve green beans with meatloaf. But if you want to mix things up you will enjoy the Fried Green Beans served alongside this Claim Jumper Meatloaf. Another great option is to try these Instant Pot Pork Chops and Gravy or this delicious Honey Baked Ham copycat. All great options to try.
