Ingredients

Create the best chocolate truffles recipe with just a few ingredients melted, mixed, and chilled!

Chocolate Chips – You want to use good-quality chocolate chips for this chocolate truffle recipe. Put down the store brand, and grab some Ghirardelli, Guittard, or Scharffen Berger. You can also use high-quality chocolate bars. Cut the bars into small pieces and then melt the chopped chocolate the same way as the chocolate chips.  Creamy Peanut Butter – My special trick for getting peanut butter out of a measuring cup is spraying the cup with a little cooking spray before adding the peanut butter. It will slide right out! Cool Whip – Make sure to thaw the Cool Whip to room temperature. If it is too cold then it will make the chocolate chunky.

Chocolate Truffles Topping Ideas

The delicious base for these truffles is amazingly delicious on its own. Add in toppings for special occasions, flavors, or holidays. The variations and toppings are endless!

Powdered sugar – The sweetness from powdered sugar balances out the flavors and lightens the chocolate flavor. Nuts – Sliced almonds, chopped pecans, chopped hazelnuts, or crushed pistachios give that added texture. Coconut – Raw or toasted adds a beautiful white coloring with a sweet texture. Cocoa Powder – A thin layer of extra cocoa is decadent and beautiful. Candy – Crushed Butterfingers or mini M&Ms are great ways to incorporate your favorite candy pieces. Sprinkles – Make it fun and more eventful knowing who and when you are serving chocolate truffles. For special holidays do pink and red for Valentine’s Day or red and green for Christmas. Mint – Crushed peppermint or crushed Andes mint gives a minty specialty with a chocolate flavor. Chocolate – For all the chocolate lovers out there, melted chocolate like milk, semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, and dark chocolate would all be delicious. Oreos – Take a handful of Oreos and crush them for a fun chocolate truffle flavor. Pretzels – Crushed pretzels give a savory and salty flavor. Extracts – If you want to flavor the actual chocolate truffles, then here are some options you can add to the mixture vanilla extract, peppermint, almond extract, or cinnamon.
