These are rich, chocolatey birds nest cookies that are perfect Spring or Easter treats! We found the White Chocolate Cadbury Mini Eggs at the grocery store and we had to try them! I already love the regular Cadbury Eggs so I knew adding white chocolate would not disappoint. However, I had to redirect a hundred little hands away from the bowl of candy just so I could get this recipe done!
Ingredients in Chocolate Bird Nests
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – you can use milk chocolate chips as well. Sometimes we do half semi-sweet and half butterscotch chips. Creamy Peanut Butter Chow Mein Noodles – the crunchy kind that come in a tin. You can also use pretzels. Sweetened Shredded Coconut Green Food Coloring Candy for the eggs – Cadbury eggs, jelly beans, Reese’s mini eggs, or any other egg shaped candy.
Tips for Making Chocolate Bird Nests
One warning…this recipe is a little messy. My hands were covered in melted chocolate and peanut butter before the process was done. However, it is totally worth it. When you are forming the chocolate bird nests, make sure that the edges come up enough that the eggs won’t roll off the sides. These will keep for a few days, just make sure to store them in an airtight container.
Substitutions for Cadbury Mini Eggs
There are a lot of ways to make this chocolate bird nests recipe your own. You don’t have to use the white Cadbury Mini Eggs. You can use the pastel colored Cadbury Mini Eggs. Try one of the candies listed below. You can also dye the coconut different colors to switch things up!
