Cadbury eggs alone are by far a delicious treat to enjoy during the Easter season. The milk chocolate is so creamy and will slowly melt in your mouth. Making these Cadbury egg cookies is just what you need to share the love with your friends and family. They are very similar to chocolate chip cookies just with an addition of the mini eggs laying on top. They are fun and delicious for an Easter treat! Let’s take an ordinary chocolate chip cookie recipe to another level. Make your chocolate chip cookies just like you would. After scooping them onto the cookie sheet add three mini Cadbury eggs to the top of the dough. We love to eat them warm, chewy, and melty out of the oven. They are yummy when you chill them in the fridge or freezer and eat them cold too!

Ingredients for Cadbury Egg Cookies

Most of these ingredients you already have in your pantry or fridge. These are easy to store year-round and then you can have these special cookies when ready. Finding the mini Cadbury eggs is sometimes tricky since they are only an Easter candy.

All-purpose flour – This gives structure when mixing the dough. Flour also has a soft and fluffy texture when baked. Baking soda – This is known as a leaving agent. It will help rise and set the cookies as they are baking. Salt – Balances out the flavors as well as aids the baking soda and gives it more leaving. Butter- Cream your butter well. This will add the richness of flavor and the creaminess of the dough. Sugars – You will want both granulated sugar and light brown sugar for these cookies. Together they make cookies soft and chewy. Vanilla extract – Added in for flavor. Eggs – Use large eggs to help bind the dough but also give the dough its form when baking. Chocolate chips – Use either mini chocolate chips or regular-size pieces. Cadbury eggs – Mini Cadbury eggs are best. Three of them will fit perfectly on top of each cookie.

Step by Step Instructions

Just like most chocolate chip cookie dough is made, this is very similar. You will want to mix the dry ingredients with the wet and combine until the dough is formed. Place the mini eggs on top and bake!

Tips and Variations for Cadbury Egg Cookies

Extra Cadbury –You can add chopped or crushed Cadbury mini eggs into the dough as you are forming the cookie dough balls and have little hidden surprises on each cookie.  Chocolate chips – White chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or butterscotch chips can be used in place of, or in addition to, milk chocolate chips. Cookie scoop – Use a rounded tablespoon or medium cookie scoop to form the cookie dough into balls for a larger cookie. Chocolate cookie – Add a quarter cup of cocoa powder to the cookie dough for an extra chocolatey and gooey cookie. Wire rack – Place the baked cookies on a wire rack to finish cooling.

Storing Cadbury Egg Cookies

Cookie dough – If you are making cookie dough ahead of time, place the cookie dough in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. If you are planning to have it months in advance it is best to freeze the dough. First, pan freeze the cookie dough balls then place them in an airtight container for three months. Freezing cookies – Once your cookies are baked, let them cool. Place them in an airtight container and stack them using parchment paper between each layer of cookies. You can also use a freezer ziplock bag, laying it flat in your freezer. Baking cookie dough – Place frozen cookie dough on a baking sheet and bake at the same temperature in the recipe card. Add one to two minutes longer for frozen cookie dough to bake. Storing – Store baked cookies in an airtight container in a cool area in the kitchen. Usually in the pantry at room temperature. These cookies do not need to be stored in the refrigerator.
