Ingredients in Sweet Potato Fries
Baking sweet potato fries is easy, fast and delicious! Here’s all you need:
Sweet potatoes – I usually start with about four potatoes. Peel the potatoes first, then cut them into thin strips. You can also cut them into sweet potato wedges, but they will need to bake longer. Vegetable oil – two tablespoons is all you need. Just enough to coat the potato strips. You can use olive oil or avocado oil too. Kosher salt – I like the larger granules of salt that kosher salt provides. But you can use regular table salt for this recipe as well. Additional spices can be used to your taste. Try paprika, garlic powder, garlic salt, or rosemary.
Tips for Perfectly Crisp Oven Fries
You can deep fry your sweet potatoes, but for this recipe I actually prefer to bake them to keep them a little healthier. To make sure the fries turn out extra crispy, cut the sweet potatoes into long sticks that are even in size. Toss the potato sticks in vegetable oil in a large bag or a large bowl to get them coated evenly before arranging them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You’ll want your oven nice and hot (at least 400 degrees) when you bake them. Make sure to flip the sweet potatoes around frequently so they don’t burn on one side. After they’re done to the crispness you like, sprinkle the fries with Kosher salt. For a little extra kick, sprinkle the fries with onion powder, cayenne pepper or black pepper.
